I haven’t really thought much about the LGBTQ community within the American Muslim lifestyle. This article was really eye opening. By looking at the title itself, this girl was truly on the edge of belonging. Within her sexuality and socially surroundings, as well as religious and familial surroundings, she was never fully a part of something. Something that really stood out to me was when she was discussing how there was no mainstream role model for her to follow. She was completely unaware of how to act or feel because she had no guidance. This was really saddening to read because if you don’t fit in socially or religiously as a gay American Muslim, you can have a constant, dangerous, and looming sense of loneliness.
